Our BBA Programme - Excellence in Business Education

 

Established in 1992, North South University is the first non-government university in Bangladesh. It is the home of world-class teaching and impactful research. The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme under the School of Business and Economics (SBE) is the largest academic degree programme of the university, which offers an unparalleled learning experience to students. 

The 2024 Times Higher Education World University Ranking by Subject has recognised SBE as the country's top business and economics school. The 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject has placed SBE among the top 351–400 in Business and Management Studies globally.

The BBA Program is benchmarked against global standards such as:

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The program aims to equip students with a solid foundation required for graduate studies and their careers by providing:

PEO 1: Effective communication of ideas and arguments.

PEO 2: Critical thinking and analytical skills.

PEO 3: Application of knowledge and techniques in decision-making in the areas of accounting, finance, management, and marketing and achievement of performance targets.

PEO 4: Understanding of Ethical Standards.

Program Details

The BBA Credit Requirements

BBA students are required to complete between 124 and 141 credits, depending on the number of courses waived at the time of admission and their chosen concentration/major, as reflected in their academic transcript. The BBA programme follows an open credits system, allowing students to enrol in a minimum of two courses (6 credits) and a maximum of five courses (15 credits) per academic term. 

Concentration/Major Areas: Students may choose one of two concentration/major areas from the following nine options: 

    • Accounting (ACT)
    • Economics (ECO)
    • Finance (FIN)
    • Human Resource Management (HRM)
    • International Business (INB)
    • Management (MGT)
    • Management Information Systems (MIS)
    • Marketing (MKT)
    • Supply Chain Management (SCM)

Single Concentration/Major: A student may graduate with a single concentration/major upon completion of either 124 or 127 credits, depending on whether ENG102 and/or BUS112 are waived at the time of admission. If neither of these courses is waived, the graduation requirement is 130 credits.

Dual Concentration/Major: A student may graduate with a double concentration/major upon completion of either 135 or 138 credits, depending on whether ENG102 and/or BUS112 are waived at the time of admission. If neither of these courses is waived, the graduation requirement is 141 credits. In the case of dual concentration/major, the Free Elective courses (3 courses / 9 credits) are replaced by three courses of the second concentration/major, along with three additional courses from the same concentration/major area.

 

BBA Tuition Fees

The total cost of the BBA Programme ranges from BDT 9,25,000/- to BDT 10,25,000/-, depending on the standing of the student at the time of admission. All fees are subject to change. Please check with the BBA Program Office for the most recent fee structure. An approximation structure of the fees is provided below.

To continue in the programme, a student must be in good academic standing (i.e. maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in every term). If in any term the CGPA drops below 2.0, the student is put on academic probation. A student will be dismissed after being on probation for three consecutive terms. To qualify for the degree a student must maintain:

  • A minimum CGPA of 2.0 in both School Core Courses and BBA Core Courses.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.5 in the Major/Concentration area.

Spring 2025 BBA Freshers’ Orientation Programme

The BBA Programme Office organised the Spring 2025 Freshers’ Orientation Programme on 12 January 2025 to welcome the new students.

The NSU BBA Programme and the NSU HR Club jointly organised a seminar on 'Modern HR Practices in Bangladesh' with Mr. Shahriar Mahmood, Executive Vice President and Head of the Department, Organisational Effectiveness & Employer Branding, bKash Limited, on 27 February 2025.

 

The NSU BBA Programme, in collaboration with the United Nations Global Compact Network Bangladesh (UN GCNB), organised two workshops on ‘Fostering Good Citizenship and Ethical Values among University Students’ on 17 and 19 March 2025, at North South University. The workshops were facilitated by Ms Juliana Awo Quist Lawson, Coordinator, Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership, and Mr Mabrur M. Chowdhury, Programme Manager, of UN GCNB. The workshops addressed SDGs 4, 9, 16, and 17.

BBA Help Desk

The BBA Help Desk is located on NAC 6th floor within the School of Business and Economics. Two dedicated officers provide a range of services (listed below, not limited to) to students, faculty members, and any other visitors.

  • Academic Issues: 
    • Term/trimester drop
    • Credit transfer procedure.
    • Department change procedure.
    • Course exclusion and inclusion in RDS.
    • Degree analysis and verification in RDS.
    • Academic probation information and guidance.
    • Regular advising and probation advising coordination.
    • Course curriculum and course mapping consultation.
  • Administrative Issues:
    • BBA curriculum coordination.
    • Freshman advising facilitation in every term.
    • Issuance of testimonials and reference letters.
    • Programme documentation and record keeping.
    • Appointment with students’ parents/guardians and follow-up.
    • Settlement of any other course- and curriculum-related issues.
